If you still have an itch to get great deals, but the summer garage sale season is over, you are in luck! This event is set for Sunday, October 21st from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. The Shepherd’s Cove will open its doors for the Name Your Price Garage Sale Fundraiser. Just pay what you think your items are worth to you! All stock on the floor will be available for this event, including clothing, shoes, household items, toys, books, tapes and CD’s and knick knacks. The furniture and larger baby items selection are also included, but will have a suggested price, however OBO is always welcomed.
In addition, there is the Shepherd’s Cove Craft and Bake Sale in the lobby. The craft sales includes a variety of handmade items, including baby blankets and bonnets, hats and mittens; and featuring the Shepherd’s Cove signature handmade braided rugs. You may also custom order rugs in specific colors.
Proceeds from the sale are to help pay for monthly expenses and pay for the new roof. The roof on the donated building needed extensive repairs, and last year a new roof was put on at a cost of $104,000.00. The loan for the new roof is due by December 2019. If that loan is not paid off by that time, they will lose the building. They have raised $48,000.00 so far and ongoing fundraisers are planned to reach that goal. They are also hosting a Hacienda Gives Back Fiesta night on October 24th at the Elkhart Hacienda. Token coupons can be downloaded online or picked up at the Name Your Price Sale. 20% of sales that day accompanied by a Token Coupon will be donated to The Shepherd’s Cove. This includes to-go orders and purchase of gift certificates.
“We want everyone to come and check us out and get a great deal on some things for yourself or for Christmas gifts”, said Sharlee Morain, Executive Director. “If you or your group is looking for a volunteer opportunity, this is a good way to see what we do and how you can help.”
The Shepherd’s Cove Clothing Pantry is supplied by donations and distributes to families in the area. Clients may come in once a month and shop for as much as they need for free. There is no income verification and no ID is required, but it does make the check in process a little easier. Clients may only get one piece of furniture a calendar year, and a photo ID and proof of Social Security number is required at that time.
Donations are accepted all year, from 9:00AM to 2:00PM on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, at the back of the building. Children’s clothing is generally in great demand. This is a good way to drop off your leftover garage sale items. Shepherd’s Cove is located at 347 W Lusher Avenue, Elkhart IN 46516
The Shepherd’s Cove Clothing Pantry, Inc. is an all volunteer organization and serves over 400 families per month. For more information, visit www.shepherds-cove.org or visit our Facebook page.
